Representatives of Enterprise Oxfordshire were delighted to attend this week’s Equinox 2035 Strategy launch at the House of Commons, where Equinox set out significant ambitions for attracting inward investment into the county.
Securing inclusive, regional growth for Oxfordshire is an ambition that underpins the work delivered by Enterprise Oxfordshire. Not only is it key to supporting the creation of new jobs and opportunities across the county, but it also places greater emphasis on scaling our world-leading innovation ecosystem, benefiting our communities, Oxfordshire’s economy and the wider UK economy.
In attendance from Enterprise Oxfordshire were its Director of Strategic Development and Programmes, Helen Ryan-Wallis and Head of Inward Investment, Placi Espejo.
Paula Mullin, Managing Director of Enterprise Oxfordshire and a recent appointment to the Equinox Operational Board, said: “We, together with Equinox, share an ambition for Oxfordshire.
“One where fast-growing businesses establish a presence to draw on our skills and talent, and where our world-class R&D assets underpin the Oxfordshire innovation story. And one where the benefits of inclusive growth are realised by residents and businesses across our region.
“We are looking forward to working alongside colleagues from Equinox and the broader business community to build global connections, taking Oxfordshire to the world.”
Enterprise Oxfordshire Chair Dr Alexander Reip – who was also in attendance at the launch – added: “Oxfordshire has a rare mix of strengths – internationally-leading research, a growing pipeline of deep tech spin-outs and start-ups, and a business community with real ambition.
“What those companies need in order to scale here, rather than elsewhere, is investment, space and skilled people. Equinox’s 2025 Strategy is a welcome step in making that case to investors.
“Oxfordshire’s economy matters well beyond the county and we are committed to showing what it offers to national and international audiences, alongside Equinox and our partners.”
By collectively championing Oxfordshire’s globally significant sectors and presenting a strong, shared proposition and ‘front door’ to investors, Enterprise Oxfordshire believes the county can build on its position as one of the UK’s most competitive economies, currently generating over £38.4 billion in GVA annually.
For Enterprise Oxfordshire, that means continuing to generate value by connecting businesses, developing skills, investment and trade opportunities, while working with partners to ensure Oxfordshire’s economic potential translates into sustainable and inclusive growth.
